Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts Web Site
Shangri-La - the largest Asian-based deluxe hotel group - asked Ion Global to enhance customer experience, boost site traffic and increase online reservations by redesigning and rebuilding its public web site.
Ion Global designed the information architecture based on user and business research conducted prior to project commencement. The site now caters to visitors in English, Simplified Chinese and Japanese. Prospective guests can view 360-degree panoramas of their rooms of choice, as well as up-to-date local weather information. The site also includes currency conversion, and online planning tools for vacations and meetings make organizing the next getaway or conference a breeze.
Behind the scenes, the site is also more flexible than its predecessor. The Ion Global team deployed a content management package to handle the job of updating content across more than 50 hotels in multiple languages.
The most important part of the site is the integrated web booking engine. Like many other successful hotels around the world, Shangri-La uses the OPERA Web Suite from Micros . Ion Global worked with the OPERA API to provide a consistently branded experience from browsing to booking, in both English and Simplified Chinese. This was one of the first projects of its kind in Asia, on the latest version of OPERA.
