Art Director, Hong Kong
You will report to the Creative Director and work on award-winning web sites and online applications for local and international clients.
You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and strength of project-based creative delivery. While creative can be viewed subjectively, it is the Art Director's role to ensure that enough information is captured from the Creative Director and client to develop and support world-class creative solutions. In many cases, you will create the most visible part of a design solution. You will ensure that project deliverables, hence the visual design, information architecture/usability and online branding, are of the highest caliber.
- Create necessary IA documentation, site maps, wireframes, schematics, etc.
- Be able to validate proposed solutions on IA and visual design levels.
- Create internal and external creative briefs.
- Convincingly present winning ideas and concepts, as well as IA approaches and solutions, to clients at the management level.
- Create proposals, cost estimates, pitches and presentations, both internal and external, and be willing to engage in public speaking opportunities.
- Scope, manage and deliver medium-scale engagements.
- Set the tone and style of solutions, manage the implementation and ensure consistency.
- Identify shortcomings in team members and prepare relevant training accordingly.
- Manage and mentor other Senior Designers, critiquing and improving their work.
- Manage external contractors and suppliers.
- Be responsible and accountable for the profitability of engagements under your control.
- Maintain professionalism in attitude and appearance.
- Represent the company at any opportunity; be recognized through awards, articles in the press and conference speaking.
- Be willing to help the company maintain its award-winning position and constantly seek to innovate in all areas of work.
You must possess all of the following:
- A Degree or above in graphic design or similar disciplines. Experience and/or qualifications in human-computer interaction would be a positive additional asset.
- At least 5 years experience, preferably at an interactive agency, new media company or design firm.
- Strong understanding of usability principles and how they affect and shape creative solutions.
- Strong production skills across a wide range of tools: Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, Freehand, Dreamweaver, Premier, 3dsMax and others.
- Good understanding of current online technologies and techniques.
- Strong understanding of branding, both online and off.
- Flexible and adaptable design style, with strong typographic and colour skills.
- Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
- Strong conceptual and good research-gathering abilities.
- Good capacity to brainstorm and co-ordinate meetings.
- Good ability to manage own time, juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Fluent English and Cantonese/Mandarin, additional languages desired.
- Ability to communicate with teams on project status and issues, with strong ability to manage issue resolutions.
