Senior Information Architect / Interaction Designer, San Francisco
Ion Global's User Experience team combines the skills of information architecture, usability testing, content development, interaction/visual design and front-end technology. This rigorous integration of disciplines enables us to build value-driven digital environments for our clients. Our Information architects are responsible for gathering and analyzing information to distill user needs and goals to create innovative information organization structures appropriate for multicultural/multilingual web sites. They are accountable for the vision of the site structure, task flows and enabling synergy between all related project disciplines.
Ion Global San Francisco has an immediate opening for a senior-level Information Architect with Interaction Design skills and experience - either as Permanent Full-Time or as a Contractor. As part of our User Experience team, the candidate would work with strategy, content development and front-end technology specialists to:
- Manage multilingual/multicultural web site client projects both independently and as a part of a larger team; this includes managing more junior User Experience employees on project-by-project basis.
- Conduct both heuristic and usability evaluations of existing and proposed designs.
- Research, develop and document user and functional requirements.
- Develop mental models and personas.
- Develop taxonomies and structured vocabularies.
- Construct IA structures, user flows and interaction designs based on Ion Global's proprietary User Experience methodology.
- Create prototype navigation models (wireframes) and interaction designs for client demonstration.
Requirements:
- At least 4 - 5 years' experience developing information architectures and/or interactive designs.
- Experience working with multilingual or international web sites very highly preferred.
- Degree in related field, such as human-computer interaction (HCI), library science, technical communications, industrial design or other relevant design area.
- At least 2 - 3 years' experience managing client projects and supervising more junior associates highly desired.
- Knowledge of user-centered design processes and interaction design approaches.
- Ability to develop new approaches to complex design processes, communicate design rationale and build consensus.
- Familiarity with field and lab-based usability research methodologies.
- Ability to create prototypes in HTML/CSS (either hand-crafted or using a DreamWeaver-like tool).
- Experience using standard presentation/analytic tools: Visio, Illustrator, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, with first-hand experience dealing with clients.
- Must be organized, have an eye for detail and be able to put ideas into a tangible form.
- Have a general understanding of web analytics.
- Knowledge of languages other than English and/or considerable overseas work/travel experience strongly desired.
