Hong Kong Arts Festival impresses at the 2006 Webby Awards

The Hong Kong Arts Festival Society and Ion Global announce winning an Official Honoree award at the prestigious 2006 Webby Awards, for the Hong Kong Arts Festival web site. This marks the 11th award for the Hong Kong Arts Festival and Ion Global.

Described as "The Online Oscars" by Time magazine, the Webbys are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Science, a 500-member body of leading web experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries and creative celebrities. The Official Honoree signifies an outstanding caliber of work in design, creativity, usability and functionality. The Hong Kong Arts Festival web site is among the very few arts institutions to have ever received this honour from the Webby Awards. The 10th Annual Webby Awards in 2006 is also the largest in its history with more than 5,500 entries from over 40 countries.

The Hong Kong Arts Festival web site is a major vehicle used to promote the Festival to the widest possible audience, as well as a tremendously successful medium for booking tickets. Of all the bookings successfully processed during the Advance Booking period of the 2006 Hong Kong Arts Festival, 60% were through its web site, accounting for 20% of the Festival's total ticket sales. The 2006 Festival has also seen a 30% increase in online booking from 2005. Not only is the Festival improving every year, but it is also pushing the boundaries of what is possible with online technologies and utilizing the medium to its fullest potential.
